My Husband's Surgery

I believe in the Power Of Prayer, strongly.  My husband had an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.

He hadn't had a physical in YEARS!  His father and one of his sisters (May They Rest In Peace), both had Abdominal Aneurysms.  His sister died from hers.

I made him go for a physical February 5, 2008; at which time the M.D. detected a 'bulge in his stomach.' And sent him for various tests, including CAT scans, Ultrasound, etc.  It was detected that his aneurysm was 6 1/2 cm.  HUGE!

He went in for surgery on Tuesday, February 26th.  The surgery lasted from 7:00 A.M. until 11:45 A.M.  My son and Mom and I were all getting worried; the surgery was only to have taken 3 1/2 hours.  Finally, his surgeon came out at 11:45 A.M. and told us "That everything went just great!"  Bobby had:

Open Surgical aneurysm repair

A vascular surgeon may recommend that you have a surgical procedure called open aneurysm repair if your aneurysm is causing symptoms, or is larger than about 2 inches (roughly 5.0 to 5.5 centimeters), or is enlarging under observation. During an open aneurysm repair, also known as surgical aneurysm repair, your surgeon makes an incision in your abdomen and replaces the weakened part of your aorta with a tube-like replacement called an aortic graft. This graft is made of a strong, durable, man-made plastic material, such as Dacron®, in the size and shape of the healthy aorta. The strong tube takes the place of the weakened section in your aorta and allows your blood to pass easily through it. Following the surgery, you may stay in the hospital for 4 to 7 days. Depending upon your circumstances, you may also require 6 weeks to 3 months for a complete recovery. More than 90 percent of open aneurysm repairs are successful for the long term.

ENDOLUMINAL SURGERY FOR AN ABDOMINAL

My husband was in the ICU from that Tuesday until Friday of that week.  He was finally moved into his own room, and was released to come home Sunday, March 2, 2008.  He's home now, resting.  He will have his staples removed Weds. March 5th.  We cannot believe just HOW Great he's progressed!  I thank the Good Lord for having his aneurysm found and, repaired 100%!

See, it's SO important to have a physical at least once every six months.

My best to each and everyone via the net, and email friends, who have stood by me and comforted me with their wonderful messages of encouragement.

Hugs To All Of YOU!

THE POWER OF PRAYER

I believe in the power of prayers and say them everyday,
It matter not what Faith you believe in, so don't be afraid to pray.
God admonishes us to pray and He will answer you all the time,
It may not be today or tomorrow but in His due time.

Some say they know not how to pray or words to use in praying,
It matters not how or what we say it is praying and believing.
God hears our every word in prayer all the time,
Whether short, long or traditional He hears every line.

I'm sharing some of my special prayers that I pray,
Some are prayers I taught my children to say.
Giving thanks and praising God, no matter what religion or ways,
This is not a write to offend anyone but to encourage each to pray.

Prayer for the Sick

Omnipotent and eternal God,
the everlasting Salvation of those who believe,
hear us on behalf of Thy sick servant, [name],
for whom we beg the aid of Thy pitying mercy,
that, with his/her bodily health restored,
he/she may give thanks to Thee in Thy church.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Prayer of St Francis

Lord make me an instrument of your Peace
Where there is Hatred,
let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, light
and where there is sadness, Joy
O Divine Master grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning, that we are pardoned.
And it is in dying that
we are born to eternal Life

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed it be Thy name,
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done,
On Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the Kingdom
And the Power
And the Glory forever. Amen

PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING

Thank You, God

Thank you God for all that grows,
Thank you for the sky's rainbows,
Thank you for the stars that shine,
Thank you for these friends of mine,
Thank you for the moon and sun,
Thank you God for all you've done!

PRAYER FOR OUR FAMILY

Dear Jesus,
I beg You to give Your special graces to our family.
May our home be a place of peace, holiness and love.
Protect us from all sin and keep us close to your heart. Amen

PSALMS AND PRAISE

Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise unto the
Lord, all the lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord is God!
It is he that made us, and we are his;
we are his people,
and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him, bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures for ever,
and his faithfulness to all generations
