"Hey, Littlbe Buddy, do you think anyone
will take us home today? We can't stay at
this shelter forever you know.
The golden haired doggie looked over at the
little kitten. "Well, I just don't know. A
lot of folks came by yesterday... and just
smiled and shook their heads... and I
followed a man who was eating a sandwich to
the park. I sat down by his bench but he
just ignored me.
And then there was the lady that was feeding
the birds in the park. She never even looked
at me. I just don't know."
A little boy walked over to them and then
looked up at his Daddy. "Hey, Dad they look
lost. It is so cold outhere. Can't we take
them home with us. Ever since, Casper died I
have so missed having a doggie."
The Dad looked at the two lying there
together. They DID look cold... and more
than that hungry.
"I don't know, son. What if we take the
kitten. That doggie looks like he is getting
along ok. I will bring some food back here
and feed him but two pets... I just don't
know, son.
The little boy scooped up the kitten in his
arms and nuzzled in her fur.
They started to walk of.
Duke decided if he wanted a home... he
better tag along so he followed them. A
couple of time the man turned and then he
knelt down. Duke barked and wagged his tail
as if to say. "Come on Mister, it is REALLY
COLD out here. I will make a wonderful pet
for your son."
The man smiled and then said, "Ok, boy. Come
on...
And off they walked, the little boy holding
the kitten very close to keep the kitten
warm and the man petting the dog as he
walked close by him.
A happy story... indeed... but you know
there are thousands more... out there
without a home...without anyone to care...
hungry... cold...
It is said a dog is mankind's best friend...
isn't it time we returned the joy pets have
brought us all.
If you see a lost pet, help it finds it home
if possible...
If you see an animal hungry...feed it...care
for it...
And make room in your heart and in your
home...
God created pets for a reason... could it
not be to show us how to care ... could it
not be to show us how to love more freely...
to go the extra mile...
Perhaps... and perhaps He knew we would need
someone on earth to love us
unconditionally... to never complain to
us... or find fault with us... someone that
accepts us just as we are... who asks for
little... but gives so much in return...

Dear God, please send me somebody who'll
care! I'm so tired of running and sick
with despair. My body is aching and
filled with such pain; And dear God I
pray, as I run in the rain That someone
will love me and give me a home, A warm
cozy bed, and food of my own. My last
owner left me alone in the yard... I
watched as they moved, and God that was
hard. So I waited a while, then went on
my way To rummage in garbage and live as
a stray. But now, God, I'm so tired and
hungry and cold; And I'm so afraid that
I'll never grow old. They've chased me
with sticks and hit me with straps While
I run the streets just looking for
scraps! I'm not really bad, God, please
help if you can, For I have become just
a "Victim of Man!" I'm wormy,
dear God, and I'm ridden with fleas; And
all that I want is an Owner to please!
If you find one for me, God, I'll try to
be good. I won't scratch the carpet;
I'll do as I should. I'll love them,
play with them, and try to obey. I will
be so grateful if they'll let me stay! I
don't think I'll make it too long on my
own, 'Cause I'm getting weak and I'm so
all alone. Each night as I sleep in the
bushes I cry, 'Cause I'm so afraid, God,
that I'm gonna die. I've got so much
love and devotion to give That I should
be given a new chance to Live! So dear
God, please hear me, please answer my
prayer, And send me somebody who will
REALLY care.

Every year,
millions of cats and dogs become homeless in
the United States. Many are adult animals
whose human families no longer want them or
can't care for them. Many get lost and never
make it home. Even more are kittens and
puppies born because owners did not have
their pets spayed or neutered in time.

DOG ADOPTION:
ALONE AGAIN
I wish that someone would tell me
what it is that I've done wrong. Why I
have to stay chained up and left alone so
long.
They seemed so glad to have me when
I came here as a pup. There were so many
things we'd do while I was growing up.
They couldn't wait to train me as a
companion and a friend.
And told me how they'd never fear
being left alone again. The children said
they'd feed me and brush me every day.
They'd play with me and walk me If I could
only stay. But now the family "hasn't
time", they often say I shed.
They do not
want me in the house, not even to be fed.
The children never walk me. They always
say "not now"! I wish that I could please
them. Won't someone tell me how??
All I had, you see, was LOVE. I
wish they would explain why they said they
wanted me, Then left me on a CHAIN??
