It has only been hours since I held you in my arms...
and now my arms are ever so empty... and my heart so
full of love for you.

Duty called and you answered... and as I watched
you...the rain that fell gently to the earth mingled
with my teardrops.

You said, "I will come back. I promise."
And through all the years, you have always kept
your promise. But I also realize that you are going to
a land called Iraq... a land that has known so much
pain and suffering...
A land that you and thousands of men and women like
you will make a wonderful difference in the lives of
her citizens...

I left my hand to wave Good-bye and you lifted yours
and then you blew me a kiss carried by the wind. How
much I pray that same wind will bring you back to me.

I wrote a prayer and put it in your uniform pocket. I pray you will find
it on the battlefield... and I pray you will read it
many times. And I pray that you will know that it is
my prayer for you, my love and for all of those you
fight beside you...your comrades in honor.
This is the prayer, my love for you.

Dear God,
I watched him leave today... and the plane
carried him far from me. Soon he will be flying over
Iraq... on missions that could mean so much danger for
him.

Please watch over him. Let him know that you are with
him... that you will never leave him.
Give him your wisdom and your guidance. Help
him as he fights to bring an end to the evil forces
that have kept that land in bondage for so long.

Light up the darkness for him... go before him into the battles... and
place the angels around him and all around all of our
men and women there. Let no harm come to them....

And ever so often, Lord would you whisper in his ear
how very much you love him... and could you let him
hear my voice too...telling him I will love him
forever and ever.

Thank you, dear Lord for giving him to me to love...
now He is in your arms of love. Hold him ever so close
and please bring him back home to me.

This is my prayer.
